Will the Macedonian-Greek Dust-Up Sink Barack Obama

Sooner or later the Greek lobby will be come knocking on the door of Senator Barack Obama for support for their position that ethnic Macedonians change the name of their country, the Republic of Macedonia, their Macedonian Orthodox Church, their Macedonian language, their history and finally to cease and desist in advocating for human rights for ethnic Macedonians living in Greece.
How he deals with this issue may determine how the media treats his persona as a politician who is different; a politician who is offering hope and integrity for Americans.
Obama does' 't have that luxury to pander to the Greek lobby since, as a member of a racial minority that continues to face discrimination, you can't be seen as supporting discrimination of others. That's news - "thats man bites dog news", "thats democrat crosses picket line news", "thats republican ignores troops news".
I can see the right-wing smear machine proclaiming "Obama supports the cultural genocide of ethnic Macedonians in Greece!" Big news!
The "right wind smear machine" will be able to go into overdrive and "swift-boat" Obama on this issue because President Bush has taken a position on principle (maybe accidentally or maybe not.). He has recognized "The Republic of Macedonia" rather than the name "Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) that the was forced upon Macedonia as a deal to get into the UN. The "smear machine" will slice and dice Obama's position to destroy his reputation and subvert his credentials as one who is interested in decency and human rights. It will be on Fox, Rush Limbaugh, bloggers and along with radio and TV ads.
The liberal media will be hard pressed to come to his defense when this issue becomes headline news. That's the beauty of this type of smear ... its true! The pundits will say "what was Obama thinking" ... "he blew it on that one" ... "how will he get himself out of this jam".
I am not a fan of the politics of personal destruction ... but there you go.

Fella, you are really desperate, aren't you? Your folks won't get numerous to the point of electing a single member of the Greek parliament, not even a single member in a local council. What chances are there that Fox and/or Rush Limbaugh shall see you and they shall not see the 75 congressmen who supported the Greek caucus' views against you, not to mention a swarm of Greeks who shall chase them to death and block their telephone lines from all over the United states, you know why...
Try a little reason from time to time. You are invisible bordering to the inexistent, within the Greek territories. For the moment, the Russians are making more of an impact in Chalkidike, if you know what I mean...
No one should be able to decide what Macedonians call them selves but Macedonians.
Greeks need to move on, everyone knows that Macedonia is Macedonia, that Alexander the great was Macedonian and that Macedonia was on this earth before greece.

Being Macedonian is a privilege of those who contribute to the world heritage, artists, scientist, humanist...I'm a afraid the only place where Macedonians are not welcomed is Greckia...and its really sad.
I think its high time the whole world, and especially the EU to oppose firmly ti the fascist regime in Greckia. Or you will continue the support of fascism in Europe. Its up to you.
Being Macedonian is a pride and joy. For Greece saying bs stuff on us, is load of bull, Macedonians created words, books, weapons and literuate that Americans read that are Macedonian! Not Greek, they stole all the Macedonian inventions, which is horrible, if Greece and Obama don't change, don't count my vote-OBAMA! I dont want FYRO, stuck on Macedonian. What do think this is, 12 century with colony exploration?! Grow up....
Hey obama no point in hiding behind oprah's skirt now on the Macedonian question. You should be ashamed of yourself. Preaching freedom etc. If you have some madina why don't really tell the world what is going on in Macedonia. Thats right we do not count no oil in Macedonia is there!!
